On the Parent/Child tab, click the attach this case to a parent case link. The following tab becomes available, and its caption reads Parent Case:
In the New Parent Case ID textbox, enter a case ID and click Verify. If the case verifies positively, the tab will change to the following:
At this point, you can:
The potential parent case may not verify positively if it is already a child of another case.
Note: The Back link will take the user to the Parent/Child tab and effectively abandon the attaching operation.
Once the new parent case is selected and verified, the parent-child relationship can be established by clicking Attach button. As a result, the tab will show:
The same tab appears for all cases which have a parent case.
To select a new parent case from a list of available cases, click Find in the New Parent Case section of the Parent Case tab. A new Select Parent Case for … screen opens:
Click Use/Done to verify the case you have selected.
