Generating Purge/Archive Directives Files

In most cases, using the easily editable Clarify-supplied directives files for purging and archiving is sufficient. However, if new directives files are needed for new objects or for a significantly altered schema, the generate command parameter can be used to iteratively create new directives files. These new files can be used for archiving and purging, but not for exporting, which requires a simple directives file structure.

An ArchiveManager generated purge/archive directives file has the same basic structure as a Clarify directives file, because during the generation process, it consults the table definitions and recursively follows the relations down. Because the generated purge/archive directives file uses ArchiveManager routines extensively, these files are not compatible with Dataex.
