Shipping an Order

Certain users may not be able to complete the ship action depending on how the logistics transitions have been defined on your system.

Clicking Save enters the shipping information into the database. Dovetail Logistics considers the order shipped when the Save button is activated. However, the ship action, unlike the fulfill action, does not create a part transfer action in Clarify.

To ship an order

  1. From the Part Request Order Processing form, choose the Ship tab.
  2. Enter the shipping address.

    Note: Picking a part prefills several of the address fields on the Ship tab. Users here can enter another address or modify the address already listed if needed. Modifying any of the address or contact information will not update the specific site address or contact data.

  3. In the Carrier field, enter a carrier for the shipment, or click the check button to select a carrier using the Select Site form.
  4. In the Waybill field, enter a waybill number.
  5. In the Pack List field, enter a packing list number.
  6. In the Pieces field, enter the number of pieces being shipped.

    Note: The Weight field will be automatically filled based on the number of pieces entered for the shipment.

  7. In the Status dropdown list, specify the status of the shipment.
  8. Select Save.

To print a packing list

Click the Print P/L button after saving. Printing a packing list provides a hardcopy document to be included with the actual shipment.
