The Mark Contacts for Merge form allows a Dovetail Agent user or administrator to manage the selection and marking of "alias" contacts. The availability of this form can be controlled via standard Dovetail Agent Privilege Classes.
The Mark Contacts for Merge form can be launched from the Select Contacts form.
The Merge Contacts functionality revolves around the three lists you can see on the form. These lists are:
Merge Candidates List. This is the list of contacts that have not yet been marked as a master or alias. The list of candidates can be filtered by first name, last name, phone number, site id, and site name. Should a candidate have roles at multiple sites, all but the contact's primary site is automatically filtered.
Master Contacts List. This is the list of contacts that are currently marked as masters (i.e. there are duplicates of this contact marked in the system).
Alias Contacts List: This is the list of contacts that are aliases (duplicates) of the currently selected master.
The task of identifying and indicating contacts involves choosing a contact from the candidate list, marking it as master, then choosing aliases (duplicates) of that master from the candidate list.
List – Refresh the candidate contact list based on specified filtering criteria.
Reset Filter – Clear all the filter fields and reset sort order criteria to default.
Merge Candidates: – Displays the list of contacts meeting the search criteria.
Merge Candidates: – doubleclick on a row – Display information for the selected candidate contact.
Mark Candidate as Master – Mark the selected candidate contact as a master. The contact is removed from the candidate contact list and added to the master contact list.
Mark Candidate as Alias – Mark the selected candidate contact as an alias (duplicate) of the currently selected master contact. The contact is removed from the candidate contact list and added to the alias contact list.
Master Contacts: – Displays the list of contacts marked as master contacts.
Master Contacts: – doubleclick on a row – Display information for the selected master contact.
Unmark Contact as Master – Unmark the selected master contact. If there are currently alias contacts marked for this master, a dialog is posted asking for a confirmation. Should the user wish to proceed, the aliases for the master are unmarked as well. The master contact and any aliases are removed from their respective lists and added to the candidate contact list.
Alias Contacts: – Displays the list of contacts marked as alias contacts for a currently selected master contact.
Alias Contacts: – doubleclick on a row – Display information for the selected alias contact.
Unmark Contact as Alias – Unmark the selected alias contact. The alias contact is removed from the alias contact list and returned to the candidate contact list.
Swap – Swaps the currently selected master with the currently selected alias. Allows you to change the master for a group of aliases quickly and easily.
Help – Presents the user with an explanation of contact merge process concepts.
Done – Close the Mark Contacts for Merge form.
