Fulfilling a Part Request

The Save process on this form in Dovetail Agent differs slightly from Clarify. Parts are transferred in Clarify as soon as the part row is selected and the Fulfill button is clicked. In the process of adding the part to the right-hand grid, the transfer is done in the database. There is no way to reverse this action from this form, so the process of undoing a mis-selected fulfill is complicated. The Save button in Clarify updates the condition and status of the Part Request Detail.

In the Dovetail Agent version, the part transfer and part request detail update are all done at the time the Save button is clicked. This ensures that the Fulfill Parts grid can be corrected if necessary, or the actions can be discarded at any time before the Save action is made.

To fulfill a part request

1. From the Part Request Order Processing form, choose the Fulfill tab.
2. With the Activity dropdown list, select Fulfill.

3. Set the New Part Status to the current condition of the part
4. To select the destination part location from the Select Accounts form, use the check button.
5. To pick the part, click on the part row.
6. To copy the part into the grid on the right side of the form, select the Fulfill button.

   Note: This grid shows the parts that have been selected from the picked part inventory location(s). It is also possible to click the Fulfill All button to have the parts copied to the selected parts grid. Once parts have been added to the grid on the right, the Save button will be activated. Parts in the grid on the right can be removed from the grid before they are processed by clicking on the part row and then clicking Remove.

7. Select Save. This action will create a part transfer action, moving inventory from one location to another. At the same time, Dovetail Logistics debits one capital GL account and credits another. The status and condition of the Part Request detail will also be updated in this process.
