A Fulfill action is the next step in satisfying the part demand after picking a part. Fulfillment does not mean the same thing as completing the order. Rather, the Fulfill action groups together the parts picked for eventual shipment. The goal of Fulfill is to move the parts from where they are currently to the inventory location/bin that best represents the physical place from where they will be shipped. For example, one of the following locations could be used:
Alternatively, users can fulfill a part directly to its final destination. When the Fulfill action is performed, a transaction occurs. In most cases, Dovetail Logistics transacts to an inventory location; bins are optional. If the parts are being sold, then transacting to an expense GL account may be best. Transacting to an expense GL account captures the transaction cost and takes the part out of inventory.
