An order can be received using Dovetail Logistics. The receive action transfers a part from one location to another, and as a result, it affects the general ledger. This may follow the shipment of an order where a new part was sent to the customer. You are now receiving the old part from that customer. Receiving an order changes the condition of the part request to Received. This action enters the receiving information in the database and creates a part transfer record.
The receive process differs slightly from the actions in Clarify. Parts are transferred in Clarify as soon as the part row is selected and the Receive button is clicked. In the process of adding the part to the right-hand grid, the transfer in done in the database. There is no way to reverse this action from this form, so the process of undoing a mis-selected receive action is complicated. The Save button in Clarify updates the condition and status of the Part Request Detail.
In the Dovetail Agent version, the part transfer and part request detail updates are all done at the time the Save button is clicked. This ensures that the Receive Parts grid can be corrected if necessary, or the actions can be discarded at any time before the Save button is clicked.
