Dovetail Logistics also contains Depot Repair functionality. You can track the repair of faulty parts, log and track details about returned parts, and track part upgrades with engineering change orders (ECOs).
Depot Repair operations consist of the following components:
Labor and materials: Add or modify individual labor and material details.
Transactions: Move material and associated assets from one location or account to another, and record that movement in the depot repair part activity log. Three depot repair operations generate part transactions:
Transact parts used during rework. Move parts from inventory to a depot repair GL account.
Remove disposition parts during rework. Move parts from depot repair into a scrap account, or back into inventory.
Upgrade parts with ECOs against them.
ECOs: An automated way to add labor and materials details to a depot repair part and to specify what the part number and revision of the part will be once it is upgraded.
Upgrades: Transact the old part into a clearing account and replace it with the new part number, part revision, and serial number.
