Optional - Configure Data Restriction

In Dovetail Mobile Agent, data restriction allows your database to be partitioned into logical, virtual databases.

For example, you can use data restriction to partition your database by geographical regions. In this scheme, users can only see the sites, contacts, cases, and solutions for their own region. When they search or query for contacts or cases, it will appear that they are querying the entire database, but in fact, they will only see sites within their restriction area.

If you plan to use Data Restrictions

Note: Data Restriction is a powerful feature, but does require careful consideration and planning. It is highly recommended that you consult with Dovetail Software before implementing Data Restriction.

Configuring Data Restriction

1. Follow the instructions on setting up Data Restriction per the installation instructions in Dovetail Agent and Dovetail Admin.
2. Import the res_clause_data.dat file into your database. (Refer to Import the Privclass DAT file for instructions on how to import a DAT file.)
3. Configure the Document Specifications within Dovetail Seeker to include Data Restriction custom fields on any domain that should be restricted.
   If needed, re-index those domain specifications to include restriction data.
   Important Note: Dovetail Seeker 2.0.9 or higher is required for Data Restricted searches.
