When Dovetail Agent is used as a DDE client, it can send DDE requests to another application that is registered as a DDE server and listening for requests. This other application must already be running in order for a DDE connection to be established.
Dovetail Agent ships with a DDE client example page that demonstrates how to initiate and send DDE messages.
To get to the DDE client test page
Open the Dovetail Agent Admin page by going to User Menu > Admin.
Select the Tools tab.
Click the DDE Client Test Page button, which opens a page with the following examples:
Post an existing case in Dovetail Agent. This example uses Dovetail Agent as the DDE server, and the example assumes that you have enabled Dovetail Agent to function as a DDE server.
Post a new case form in Dovetail Agent, fill in the phone number, and click the Find Caller button. This example uses Dovetail Agent as the DDE server. This example assumes that you have enabled Dovetail Agent to function as a DDE server.
Poke data into Excel. This example uses Microsoft Excel as the DDE server.
