When Dovetail Email Agent needs to send an outgoing email, it uses a template to determine the format and content of the email. Dovetail Email Agent ships with a set of simple pre-defined templates that can be used. It is expected that most customers will customize these templates. These templates are defined as XSLT files.
Extensible Stylesheet Language Transformations (XSLT) is a styling language for XML. XSLT allows XML in one form to be transformed into another text format, such as HTML. Dovetail Email Agent uses the XSLT templates to produce HTML which is then sent out as an email.
There are many books and websites available that discuss XSLT in great detail. The resources section of www.xslt.com is a good starting point.
