To open the Notifier Form, select User > Notifier from the Control Pane.
In the Clarify Classic Client, the Notify Server process sends a message to the Integrated Notifier, which is built into the Classic Client. However, the Notify Server process can be problematic. It may send out messages when users are not logged in, causing the messages to be lost. Another issue is that messages are deleted from the database as soon as they are sent. This means that when the user logs out of the Classic Client, the message cannot be retrieved again.
The Dovetail Agent Notifier helps address some of the Clarify issues. Whenever a new message is created, a new row is also added to the fc_message table. It is this fc_message table that the Dovetail Agent Notifier looks at. Users can view their messages, both new and old. These messages are kept in the database until they are deleted. When a message is deleted from the fc_message table, the original message is also deleted from the message table.
The Notify Server does not have to be running for the Dovetail Agent Notifier to work.
