In Dovetail Agent, data restriction is a powerful feature that allows your database to be partitioned into logical, virtual databases.
For example, you can use data restriction to partition your database by geographical regions. In this scheme, users can only see the sites, contacts, cases, and CRs for their own region. When they use the Select Sites item from the menu, it will appear that they are querying the entire database, but in fact, they will only see sites within their restriction area.
Most employees/users are placed in just one restriction group, but there are times when an employee may need to spend time working on different sets of data. In this case, they should be added to multiple restriction groups. However, only one restriction group can be active at a time. If they want to modify and view data from a different group, they have to switch the restriction group they are in.
If you turn on data restriction, Dovetail Admin is automatically restricted. For more information about data restriction, please see the Dovetail SDK documentation.
To change a users data restriction group, go to User > Profile from the Console. On the Preferences tab, use the Restriction Group dropdown list to choose the new group.
